Marvel Animated Movies 6 Film Set Review

Introducing the latest Marvel Animation: 6 Film Set

482 minutes of pure Marvel animation including some of Marvel’s best superheros. This 6 film box set is a must-have for any true Marvel fan.

This box set collects the first 6 animated films from the ‘Marvel Animated Features’ collection:

*Note: these are the exact same discs that you would get if you bought the movies separately (right down to the shrink-wrapped packaging).

**The “Hulk Vs.” disc is the single disc edition, not the 2-disc

If you only own one or two of these titles this is a nice way to grab all the current releases in one round. This also makes an amazing gift for a Marvel fan that hasn’t had the chance to buy any of these yet.

Altogether this is a great slate of Marvel animated movies here. If you’re especially a fan of Iron Man and/or the Hulk you will be glad to know that those two characters pop up fairly frequently throughout all 6 films. Avengers fans also get love here as the Avengers get decent exposure in anticipation of their upcoming movie. The inclusion of the lesser-known Doctor Strange film is a pleasant surprise.

As with the usual Marvel Animation standard, the quality of these films ranges from good to excellent. The films are rated PG to PG-13 and just a little more adult than your usual Saturday morning fare.

At the end of the day this is an amazingly cheap deal. You’re paying the price of 2 films for a 6 Film Set. You can’t beat that.

Review:

Let start of saying this is a GREAT show by Marvel Animation. Marvel animated movies are usually very good and this television show is no different. The series is elevated largely in part due to the animation and the method of storytelling.

Marvel has definitely matured their X-Men brand with a new way of delivering a story that is more competitive with real shows. It has a very solid arc over the entire season and also keeps you hooked into watching the next episode.

All of the characters are fully fleshed out, including the title character and fan favorite – Wolverine. Each character is unique and you become genuinely interested in their personality and storylines. A standout character for me was Emma Frost; Marvel did an amazing job giving her character such great depth. Nightcrawler and Scarlett Witch were also quite good, although they had slightly minimal roles.

It’s a real shame this show was cancelled. If they ever make a new animated X-Men, they should make it like this show with an emphasis on what made the characters great. It would be another fantastic show to watch.

All-in-all, this is our personal favorite X-Men adaptation out there.

Rating: 9 out 10 stars (Excellent)
